Design for Lincoln Health Department's Hazard-Free Home Handbook
The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department had a previous Hazard-Free Home Handbook that was packed with useful information, but it was being shoved away in closets or lost in drawers because of its lack of visual appeal. This redesign was meant to create energy around the seemingly dull topic of toxins in the home.
The handbook was extremely text-heavy, so the largest task was to add organizational flow to the pages. The goal was to have someone enjoy flipping through the pages of this handbook by designing it to be both eye-catching and easy to digest.
Graphic symbols were used throughout the handbook for a quick visualization of the hazards of each household product.
The back cover of the handbook was designed as a direct mailing feature for easy distribution.
